Borrego Springs adds two complications. First, the heat itself: sustained extreme temperatures stress panels, inverters, and wiring, and undermine systems that were designed for milder climates. Engineering Choices That Mattered

Ground mount over rooftop

Putting the array on the ground kept the resort's roofs untouched and gave the design team full control over orientation and layout. It also makes every component accessible for inspection and service, which matters more, not less, at a remote site.

Designed for heat, not just sunshine

Desert irradiance is exceptional, but high temperatures reduce panel output and stress electrical components. The system was engineered specifically for extreme desert heat, using Tier-1 equipment backed by 25-year manufacturer warranties, so production holds up in August, not just on the spec sheet.

In-house electrical, end to end

Keen's in-house C-10 electrical crews, state-certified Journeymen and Apprentices, handled the electrical work rather than subcontracting it out. Electricians first, solar second. That is the same discipline behind our full electrical services and EPC delivery model.
