Tile Roofs Separate Good Installers From the Rest
Concrete tile is everywhere in the Inland Empire, and it is unforgiving. Tiles have to be lifted, flashed underneath and set back without cracking, and a rushed job shows up as a leak the first winter.
The homeowner also wanted backup power, not just savings. That meant a battery sized for the house and a backup switch that lets the whole home island when the grid drops.

Tile Roof Array
Fifteen all-black modules on IronRidge rail, split across two roof planes, with every attachment flashed beneath the tile.
Powerwall 3
Tesla Powerwall 3 serving as both the solar inverter and a 13.5 kWh battery, DC-coupled so solar charges it without extra conversion losses.
Whole-Home Backup
A Tesla Backup Switch at the meter, a new AC disconnect, and a rapid-shutdown breaker box, with the existing 200A panel kept in service.
How We Built It Right
Flashed under the tile
Every roof attachment is flashed beneath the tile layer, the method that keeps water out for the life of the roof. Tiles are reset, not mortared over.
All-black, flush and tidy
Black-frame, black-backsheet modules sit low and even on the rail so the array reads as part of the roof from the street. Conduit runs on the roof are kept short and straight.
Battery mounted clean on the wall
The Powerwall sits flat on the side-yard wall with the conduit run plumb, out of the way of foot traffic and easy to service.
